Course Description:
Traffic Management Level 1 is a basic signage awareness course for newcomers to the industry who have had little or no exposure working on or adjacent to roads. It aims to give these people an understanding of traffic matters and the knowledge required to choose and use the appropriate signage to work safely in their work environments.
This course will enhance road worker safety through the identification and subsequent mitigation of specific hazards associated with working on, or adjacent to, roads in relation to construction work.
Traffic Management Level 1 IS NOT the course you are required to do prior to applying for your Traffic Controller licence. Control Traffic with a Stop/Slow Bat is the course which would allow you to apply for your Traffic Controller licence.

The aim of this course is to provide participants with the knowledge and understanding of the minimum standard of signage as per the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) part 3 works on roads. Koolat Safety ensures that applicants are provided with professional guidance & training in the approved procedures for placing road signs by State/Territory Legislative requirements & Issuance of “attendance certificate” – Queensland Government – Transport & Department of Main Roads –“Traffic Management Level One (Signage awareness) Course”
- NOTE: Koolat Safety Training reserves the right to refuse any person entry or remove them from a training venue if it is in the best interests to others & is for the operation of the training program & the trainer.
There are no prerequisites for this course but it is useful to all workers, supervisors and managers of projects where work on roads are undertaken.
Participants are advised to hold intermediate numeracy, literacy and communication skills to read and comprehend written instructions.
Students MUST WEAR enclosed shoes and appropriate PPE
