Course Description:
On successful completion of this program and on approval of application to Queensland Transport, the trainee will be able to control traffic on a road way using a Stop/Slow bat in accordance with legislative requirements and guidelines set out in the M.U.T.C.D Part 3.

- Speed limits for controlling traffic.
- Responsibility for Traffic Controller Ahead signs.
- Location of traffic control station.
- Correct procedures for controlling traffic.
- Communication with the public.
- Two-way radio communications and protocol.
- Controlling traffic at night.
- Reporting offenders.
- Removing or covering signs when not controlling traffic.

This training course has been designed by the Queensland Government Department of Main Roads in order to accredit individuals with the skills and knowledge required to become a Traffic Controller in Queensland. This course is delivered by Koolat Safety who is an Accredited Traffic Control Training Provider.
On successful completion of this course and issuing of the Traffic Controller Licence from Queensland Transport, participants may then gain employment in the Traffic Management Industry.

- Licence Applications are lodged at most Queensland Transport Customer Service Centres. The approximate processing time for licence applications is between 3 and 4 weeks due to the time required for criminal history checks although this time may vary in some cases. Applicants are not permitted to work as a Traffic Controller until they receive their Licence.
- Traffic Controllers are required to undertake a refresher course every three years in order to maintain their accreditation and currency.
Participants are advised to hold intermediate numeracy, literacy and communication skills to read and comprehend written instructions and must be at least 18 years of age.
Students are to wear STEEL CAP SAFETY BOOTS and appropriate PPE
Important Information;
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have held an open or provisional drivers licence (Australian or Foreign) continuously for at least 12 months in the past 5 years
