What to expect from this training:

All crane courses involve both theory and practical training with a qualified instructor as well as dedicated study time for you. In general, it takes the equivalent of 4 days of preparation for someone who has never operated a Slewing mobile crane over 100 tonne to prepare for the licence assessment. This training is conducted over 4 days face to face with an instructor.

Through the combination of theory and practical training, this course provides participants with the necessary knowledge and skills required to safely operate a Slewing mobile crane over 100 tonne (CO).

  • Participants are advised to hold intermediate numeracy, literacy and communication skills to read and comprehend written instructions and must be at least 18 years of age
  • Students are to wear closed in shoes (steel caps)
  • Students must have a basic understanding of mathematics (must be able to work out formulas for loads and safe working loads of steel wire rope, synthetic rope and chains)
  • Current crane operators requiring a CO licence may be able to apply for RPL. References and logbook hours must be produced for the size of crane on which you require to have your prior learning recognised. All intending crane operators should hold a doggers licence prior to attempting any crane licence

Students must also bring;

  • Hard hat and safety vest
  • Drivers Licence or Passport (required for course registration)
  • Koolat Safety can provide Safety equipment upon request
  • Potential crane operators should have a dogging licence before attempting to obtain crane licences
Important Information:
  • Students should have basic reading and writing skills (to be able to identify and interpret workplace signs)
