Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety
This qualification is aimed at people who work, or wish to work, as OHS Coordinators, Safety Officers or Safety Advisors at a workplace. This qualification would suit an Occupational Health and Safety officer in a full-time dedicated role who works under the supervision of an Occupational Health and Safety Coordinator or Occupational Health and Safety Manager.

Queensland Construction White Card / Blue Card – General Safety Induction CPCCOHS1001A – The White Card course is a requirement for anyone who wants to work in the construction industry.
The QLD White Card is for Queensland residents or for interstate people who will be working in Queensland and have been asked to get a QLD White Card.

The general induction training-
- teaches people the knowledge and skills described in the unit of competency to ‘work safely in the construction industry’. General induction is a structured training course that has a nominal duration of up to 6 hrs of self paced, assisted learning or if required face-to-face delivery
- The course assessment will require the demonstration of all the elements of induction training as specified in the unit of competency. You should therefore expect that the course be delivered by a trainer who has experience in workplace health and safety and/or the building and construction industry
- Upon successfully completing the course a laminated card will be provided to you. It will have a serial number and should contain your signature and the date of the course.

Dogging work is—
- the application of slinging techniques, including the selection and inspection of lifting gear, for moving a load using a crane, hoist or other plant configured for use as a crane or hoist; or
- directing an operator of a crane, hoist or other plant configured for use as a crane or hoist in the movement of a load, including when the load is out of the operator’s view
Rigging work is the use of mechanical load-shifting equipment and associated gear—
- to move, place or secure a load using plant, equipment or members of a building or structure; or
- to ensure the stability of the members of a building or structure; or
- to set up or dismantle a crane or hoist.

Scaffolding
Scaffolding Training with Koolat Safety

Scaffolding work is -
- the erection, alteration or dismantling of a temporary structure, specifically erected to support platforms
- Schedule 5 of the Workplace Health and Safety Regulation 2008 defines scaffolding as a prescribed occupation which means that a certificate is required, to undertake any work related to this area. Certificate requirements also apply where a person or object could fall more than four metres from the scaffolding
- the erection, alteration or dismantling of a temporary structure specifically erected to support a platform from which a person or object could fall more than 4m.

Hoists and Elevating Work Platforms
Hoist and Elevating Work Platform Training with Koolat Safety

Hoists are-
- devices used for lifting or lowering loads by means of a drum or lift-wheel around which rope or chain wraps. They may be manually operated, electrically or pneumatically driven and may use chain, fiber or wire rope as its lifting medium. Loads are attached to the hoist by means of a lifting hook
Elevating work platforms are-
- mechanical devices used to provide temporary access for people or equipment to inaccessible areas, usually at height. There are distinct types of mechanized access platforms and the individual types may also be known as a “cherry picker” or a “scissor lift”
- generally used for temporary, flexible access purposes such as maintenance and construction work. They are designed to lift limited weights and they are usually capable of being fully operated (including setup) by a single person.

a mobile truck mounted plant incorporating a knuckle boom, capable of power operated slewing and luffing to place concrete by way of pumping through a pipeline attached to, or forming part of, the boom of the plant for licensing purposes

Enter and Work in a Confined Space

A confined space is identifiable—
- that it has limited or restricted means of entry or exit and is large enough for a person to enter to perform tasks but is not designed or configured for continuous occupancy
- septic tanks that have contained sewage and a small underground electrical vault are both examples of confined spaces. Confined spaces on a construction and mining sites are defined differently than confined spaces in some other industries. Confined spaces that present special hazards to workers, including risks of toxic or asphyxiant gas accumulation, fires, falls, flooding, and entrapment may be classified as permit-required confined spaces depending on the nature and severity of the hazard.
- certification of non-hazardous atmosphere by a trained or competent person is required before personnel may enter a confined space without the use of a respirator.

Forklift Trucks are—
- sometimes also called a lift truck or fork truck and are a powered industrial truck used to lift and transport materials
- they are industrial lift trucks equipped with a vertically elevating load carriage frame. Horizontal load forks (or a similar lifting mechanism) projecting from the front of the frame. Forklift trucks can be powered by electric motors or internal combustion engines running on petrol, diesel or LPG fuels
- Forklift trucks are controlled by an onboard operator who must hold a licence. Trainee operators must work under the supervision of an employer-appointed competent, certified forklift operator.

Traffic Control / Traffic Management (QLD)
Traffic Controller (QLD) and Traffic Management Levels 1-2 Training with Koolat Safety

Traffic Control involves—
- directing vehicular and pedestrian traffic around a construction zone, accident or other road disruption, thus ensuring the safety of emergency response teams, construction workers and the general public
- traffic control is an outdoors occupation, night or day for long hours in all weathers and is considered a dangerous occupation due to the high risk of being struck by passing vehicles. Safety equipment is vitally important
- a worksite will be set up with warning signage well in advance of the actual work area. Small Power Tools with Koolat Safety
- Koolat Safety offers a short course in the safe operation of small power tools. We can adapt this course to suit the variety of tools that are used in your workplace. These tools may include, power drills, circular saws, drop saws and grinders
- This course will provide an understanding of the potential hazards associated with the use of hand tools and power tools as well as the safety precautions required to prevent those hazards from occurring. Power tool hazards are addressed by the power source used: pneumatic, liquid fuel, hydraulic or powder-actuated.
